Plant Diagnostic Clinics

Come join us at the Sequim Farmer’s Market in July! We look forward to sharing the WSU Extension Resources with you.

We are there from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, but not on the 1st Saturday of the month.

Master Gardener Plant clinics are opportunities for members of the public to get help solving gardening problems, or finding out about the latest sustainable garden practices. If you would like a plant or insect identified or a disease diagnosed, please bring as much information to the plant clinic as possible, including plant samples or photographs.

Some Questions To Consider:

How long has the problem existed?

Is it getting noticeably worse?

Is more than one plant affected?

How often is the plant fertilized?  Fertilizer strength?

Have any chemicals been applied near the plant recently?

Have the roots been disturbed?  Bark damage?

Plant Problems

Is your plant turning brown or the edges curling? Do your apples have spots? Does your lawn have discolored rings? Master Gardeners can help you identify the likely problem and suggest solutions to restore your plant, lawn or garden to good health.

Plant or insect identification

Did you just move into a house, and there are new-to-you plants in the garden? Did you find an insect that you’ve never seen before? Is there something eating your favorite plant? Bring in a sample or photo, and Master Gardeners will take a look. If your sample is identified as a pest or a weed, they will work with you to develop a management strategy according to recommendations from WSU Extension. If it’s a beneficial insect or plant, Master Gardener volunteers will help you figure out how to keep them around.

Information

Do you want to learn more about drought-tolerant plants suitable for our area, fire-wise options, the benefits of drip irrigation, which mulch to use, the best time to fertilize or water your plants, or how to prune your roses, shrubs and fruit trees? Master Gardeners have experience and technical resources to answer your questions.
