Employee Separation

Use the information below to help plan your departure from WSU. The following information is for Administrative Professional, Civil Service, or Nonpermanent employees. Faculty employees should check the Faculty Manual or consult with HRS.

Send your resignation letter to your manager/supervisor. They will make sure it is sent to the appropriate parties for processing.

  • Keep your time and leave calendar up-to-date with all of your hours entered through your last day of employment.
  • For Civil Service and Nonpermanent employees, any annual leave and holiday credits you have accrued will be paid out to you.
  • For Administrative Professional employees, any annual leave is to be used before your last day of employment. This includes the annual leave accrued during the last month of employment. In certain circumstances, a written request may be sent to the Associate Dean of Extension to have any unused annual leave paid out to the employee.

  • On your last day of employment, return any laptops/computers, keys, and/or any other WSU office equipment to your supervisor.
  • Review the Departure Checklist form with your supervisor.

If you have a WSU procurement card, make sure all purchasing card transactions have been verified before the last day of employment. Notify the EBOT manager that all transactions have been verified/approved so that the purchasing card can be cancelled.

Check out the Resources When Leaving WSU Employment section on the WSU HRS website. This section contains information on medical and dental insurance, retirement plans, leave payout information, and much more to help in planning your departure from WSU.
