MASTER GARDENER PROGRAM — Projects

Laura and Penny with kids

Master Gardeners coordinate garden activities for Hazel Dell Elementary School students and children from the adjacent Boys and Girls Club. The kids participate in garden tasks; planting, weeding, mulching, watering, and harvesting as well as make healthy snacks, play games, do crafts, and investigate and observe wildlife.

The number of school-age children who have experiences in the garden during the school year and summer program exceeds 400 children annually, and the number of teens and college students who assist with maintenance each year is approximately 150.
