Posted by melissa.brown1 | September 3, 2024

MASTER GARDENER PROGRAM — Workshops & Events

Join the WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program for an on-the-road-tour and leave the driving to us!

Our destination for this trip is Hood River, and our theme is “A Sense of Place. Our first stop is OSU Extension Hood River County, where the Master Gardener Coordinator will discuss microclimates. The location provides a view of several areas around Hood River where we can observe the impact of planting decisions made based on microclimate.

Next stop is Good News Gardening, where the owner will talk about efforts to help people make informed choices about plants for specific locations, expanding our understanding of microclimates and choosing the “right plant for the right place.” They offer expert advice to help make garden dreams come true. Good News Gardening has thousands of plants as well as a beautiful gift shop.

Lunch is on your own at Bette’s Place, where they specialize in homemade food made fresh daily.

Our last stop is Packer Orchards and Farm Place, a family-owned orchard and bakery, where we will learn about how their operation deals with Hood River microclimates. Before departing, we can buy fresh fruits and homemade bakery goods.
