MASTER GARDENER PROGRAM — Workshops & Events

78th Street Heritage Farm
A Master Gardener docent leads a tour of Heritage Farm. One of the two weather stations at the site is visible in the background.

In 1924, if your family couldn’t pay its bills, what happened? You might have been sent to “the poor farm.” That historic “poor farm” in Clark County is now the 78th Street Heritage Farm. It is home to demonstration gardens of the Master Gardeners program, with a history going back to 1865. Placed on the Washington Historic Register in 2012, the 79-acre property has a unique and compelling story for people of all ages.

Join the WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener Program for a guided tour of the 78th Street Heritage Farm in Vancouver, Washington. Stroll the property with a knowledgeable docent and learn about the site’s storied history and its current role in horticulture education, agricultural research, food security and community enrichment.

Tours involve prolonged standing and walking on uneven ground with some elevation change. Bring water, dress for the weather.

Advanced registration is required. Tour size is limited. Please don’t register if you aren’t sure you can attend!

Cost: Free.
