Become a 4-H Volunteer

Grays Harbor County 4-H provides many opportunities for adult volunteers to act as thoughtful, fun mentors to our youth!  Volunteering in the Grays Harbor County 4-H Youth Development Program is a privilege and requires the completion of a few simple steps.

Volunteer Interest Form

Unsure how to get started volunteering with 4-H?  Fill out this Volunteer Interest Form and return to your club leader, or 4-H Program Coordinator to discuss volunteer opportunities that might be a good fit for your areas of interest, experience and time commitment.  The Grays Harbor 4-H Council has information about potential volunteers roles that are available at https://extension.wsu.edu/graysharbor/2024/09/4-h-council-seeks-committee-volunteers/

Steps to Volunteer with 4-H:

Please find the document with steps for new and returning volunteers.
Returning volunteers need to enroll annually and pass a background check every 3 years.
New volunteers will complete all of the following steps.

1.  Complete and return the Grays Harbor County 4-H Volunteer Application Packet to the 4-H Program Coordinator
2.  Complete the required volunteer education

  • Visit the eXtension website to login and view the “WSU Put the Child First” video
    (the Grays Harbor enrollment key is GRAYSHARBOR4H)
  • Visit the eXtension website to login and complete “4-H Volunteer Orientation Modules
    (the Grays Harbor enrollment key is GRAYSHARBOR)
  • Visit the eXtension website to login and complete “WSU EP 14 Protection and Safety of Minors Training
    (the Grays Harbor enrollment key is EP14GRHA4H)

3.  Enroll in 4-H Online as a volunteer. You must complete all required enrollment information online directly at https://v2.4honline.com/.

4.  Complete a background screening from “Sterling Volunteers” after receiving a link.
5.  Meet with us!  Once you have completed these steps, we will work together to schedule an interactive, fun volunteer orientation workshop and if you are starting a new club we will provide a 4-H Club Kit. We invite you to stay connected through the regularly scheduled 4-H leadership meetings, hosted via Zoom and in person at the WSU Extension office in Elma.  These meetings will provide you with networking opportunities, a chance to ask questions and knowledge needed to achieve the 4-H motto, “To Make the Best Better.”
