Build a Rain Garden!

Build a Rain Garden!
Learn to build beautiful rain gardens that look great in your landscape and improve environmental health! Rain gardens are bowl-shaped flower beds that capture and soak in rain runoff from roofs and driveways, keeping polluted runoff from rushing off to local waterways where it causes erosion, flooding and pollution.
Rain gardens use low-maintenance native plants, make great wildlife habitat, and are designed to dry up in 24 hours or less – they do not hold water. Rain gardens are not usually suitable for very steep yards or homes with severe drainage problems. At this introductory workshop, local rain garden expert Jamie Stamberger will teach the basics of safe site selection, sizing, design, construction, plant selection, and maintenance and take you on a tour of an on-site garden to see practices in action.
