Pandemic EBT is here!

Due to COVID-19, children who are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called P-EBT. P-EBT benefits help Washington families buy food when schools are closed or have reduced in-person attendance.

4-H Food & Fun Virtual Cooking Classes

Choose from several classes in April and May.

Class is for ages 8 – 12, and is free! 4-H Teen Teachers will teach youth about nutrition and basic cooking skills through a grant funded by the Wal-Mart Foundation and National 4-H Council. Attend classes in your own home via Zoom, works best if you can be in the kitchen. We will be making a different recipe each week. Your child is welcome to watch the demonstration or make the recipe at home along with us. Ingredients are available if needed. Every student that attends at least 4 of the 5 classes and completes the end of class survey will receive a 4-H apron!

Grow-A-Row 2021

OPPORTUNITY:

Kitsap Harvest “Grow A Row”

Do you love to grow food? Kitsap Harvest would love to partner with you!

Kitsap Harvest connects abundance to need by reducing food waste, nurturing community, and providing equitable access to fresh, locally grown food. In other words, they ensure all communities in need, within the county, are provided healthy food options through the distribution of gleaned food grown right here in our figurative and literal backyards!

WHERE YOU COME IN:

Kitsap Harvest is in the process of securing garden plots (all over the county) to grow food specifically designated for distribution to food banks and their network of recipients. Some of the plots will even be used as demonstration gardens for educational purposes! In order for this to be a success, we need committed community partners (YOU) willing and able to maintain the gardens on a weekly basis. Will you be our committed partner?

Benefits: Sense of purpose, sunshine, bragging rights, produce, new friends, deep appreciation, life satisfaction, and MORE!

CONTACT:

info@kitsapharvest.org and plug “GROW A ROW” into the Subject Line with a mention of your preferred general location (we want to make this easy). OR…If you have a garden plot you’d like to share with our organization, let us know!
