Preserve The Taste Of Summer

Washington State University Extension is announcing a new food preservation program called PRESERVE THE TASTE OF SUMMER. It is a series of eight online lessons for the in-home consumer who wants to learn about food preservation and food safety. It is designed for beginning canners and also veteran canners who want to update their knowledge and skills. The lessons provide the most current USDA approved food preservation recommendations. Pressure Canner Testing

McLendon’s has partnered with the WSU Pierce County Extension to provide testing of pressure canner gauges. Please call the store closest to you for hours and cost. Home Food Preservation

The National Center for Home Food Preservation is your source for current research-based recommendations for most methods of home food preservation. The Center was established with funding from the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture (CSREES-USDA) to address food safety concerns for those who practice and teach home food preservation and processing methods.
