Growing Strawberries in the Home Garden

Join the Master Gardeners for the Homegrown Berries Series of 2026.

This series is a collaboration between Clallam County Master Gardeners, Lazy J Tree Farm and the Olympic Orchard Society.

It will be led by veteran Master Gardeners Jeanette Stehr-Green and Audreen Williams.

Space is limited and registration is required. Please use this link to join the class.

A class titled “Growing Strawberries in the Home Garden”

will be held on Saturday, May 30th, 2026

from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

at the Dungeness River Nature Center

1943 W. Hendrickson Road in Sequim

Participants will learn how to:

  • Select berry varieties suited to the North Olympic Peninsula and the microclimate
  • Transplant the berry plants at the proper depth and spacing
  • Identify (and prepare) a planting site conducive to good growth
  • Care for the plants to keep them healthy and ensure a good harvest

August 29: Growing Raspberries in the Home Garden (Class)
September 26: Growing Blackberries in the Home Garden (Class)
October 24: Fall and Winter Berry Care (Class)
