Community Service Achievement Pin Guidelines
(See Basic Guidelines and Judging Sheet for More Examples)
For this project, the depth of experience and knowledge desired typically requires 2-4 years to achieve.
SECTION I – COMMUNITY SERVICE
Enrollment in Community Service is required.
A. Participation in 4-H Community Service Activities – (40 points)
1. 4-H Related – Visiting retirement homes, making gifts for the residents, making holiday baskets, etc.
2. Other Community Service – Community Service in unrelated project areas. Non 4-H in school,
church or other organizations.
B. Positive attitude and willingness to participate. (10 points)
SECTION II – LEADERSHIP
A. Volunteer Leadership – (20 points)
Assist new members to learn about their project, demonstrate techniques, assist members with record books and public presentations, encourage other members to participate in other 4-H activities, lead discussions, organize activities. Assist at judgings, clinics, fairs. Participate in Ambassadors, assist in area events, i.e. public presentations.
B. Elected – (3 points)
Held offices or chaired committees, committee participation. Position duties should have been fully executed .
C. Promotion – (2 points)
Promotion of 4-H – encourages new members to join, talks on 4-H to non 4-H groups, making posters, organizing/participating in membership recruitment rallies, parades, etc.
SECTION III – OTHER PROJECTS (25 points)
A. Showing growth and active involvement and participation in project activities
Attending meetings, clinics workshops, helping set up, work and cleanup at these events and at judgings, public presentations, etc .
Achievement Pin Applications must be submitted to the Extension Office for county judging with an up to date 4-H Record Book. Those choosing the interview option, must turn in the application and will be notified of an interview time. Judging will be done by 2 of the following: Program Leader, Superintendent, Project Leader designated by the Program Leader.
