Home Horticulture Training
Learn to be a better home gardener and steward of the environment this winter with Washington State University Extension’s new online Home Horticulture (HH) Training program.
HH Training focuses on a wide range of horticulture topics taught online by WSU faculty, staff, Master Gardeners, and other regional experts on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon starting Jan. 9 and continuing weekly through Apr. 24.
Homework for each topic is expected to average 3-5 hours a week in addition to the Saturday online class. Homework will include reading assignments, presentations, videos, and exercises all done online through WSU’s Global Campus.
Those wishing to earn a Home Horticulture Training Certificate of Completion will need to attend most classes and take weekly online quizzes and a final, all of which are open book. No memorization is expected. Tuitions is $300 and registration will open in mid-November.
Home Horticulture Training (web) will be done in cooperation with your local County WSU Extension Office, If you are a Snohomish County resident and wish to be notified in advance when registration becomes available, please contact Master Gardener Coordinator Howard Voland (email).
Although this training uses some of the same materials used for Master Gardener Training to include the WSU Master Gardener Online Training manual, this training cannot be used toward becoming a WSU Master Gardener Volunteer in Snohomish County. Those whose goal is to become a WSU Extension Certified Master Gardener Volunteer in Snohomish County should wait to apply for the Class of 2022, when we hope to return to in-person training.
