WSU Military Teen Adventure Camp Volunteer Opportunities
Camp Dates: July 13-16, 2023 and July 18-21, 2023

Camp Counselors will work as a team with one or two other adults to supervise a group of campers, which will include 8-13 teens, for the duration of one or both camp sessions. These counselors will help ensure the safety of the campers, while leading and participating in exciting outdoor activities such as white-water rafting, mountain biking, archery, and other hands-on outdoor learning experiences while helping teens grow through challenges. Counselors will stay on-site for a total of 5 days and 4 nights per session. Must be 21+ and become an approved WSU 4-H leader. Lodging and healthy, prepared meals will be provided. Volunteer stipends and transportation reimbursements are available.

Activity Facilitators can be Camp Counselors staying on-site, or can join us at the camp for one to two days per session to lead an activity in which they are knowledgeable of. The most likely dates when facilitators are needed are July 14, 15, 19, and 20. We are seeking volunteers who have experience and understanding in areas such as survival skills, mountain biking, foraging, archery, plant identification, and/or other outdoor skills/activities. The Activity Facilitator will work with WSU and GPI Staff prior to the camp start date to plan and coordinate the activities.

Drivers will assist with transporting youth to and from the airport and to off-site outings

Kitchen Assistants will assist the Camp Chef in the preparation, distribution, and clean up of camp meals and snacks. The Kitchen Assistant will gain valuable industry knowledge; learning about proper food handling, safety, sustainability, and cooking with local/seasonal foods. A Kitchen Assistant will be expected to volunteer/intern for a total of 20 hours (5 hours per day) for one or both camp sessions. Kitchen Assistants will be encouraged to join in outdoor camp activities offered outside of shift hours. On-site housing is available for the duration of camp. The 20 hours per session can be counted toward volunteer hours, or can be an internship with a small stipend for teens ages14-18.
