Why buy when you can grow?

For the home cook/gardener, very few things are more rewarding than standing in the middle of your garden and planning your next meal. Likewise, nothing is more discouraging than standing in the produce section at the grocery store and not being able to find that specialty herb or vegetable you seek, or discovering the costly price and poor quality. “Shopping” in your own home garden is not only cost effective but the product is always fresher, more flavorful, a better quality and always readily available. Growing culinary herbs/spices, aromatics and specialty vegetables in the North Olympic Peninsula is not only easy but it’s one of the simplest, most economic ways to be self-sufficient and grow “garden to table produce” throughout the year, while taking your culinary skills to the next level.

Join Clallam County Master Gardener, Pam Pace for:

“Growing, Harvesting, Cooking and Preserving with Culinary Herbs, Spices, Aromatics and Specialty Vegetables”

A Digging Deeper Saturday presentation on

Saturday June 29th, 2024 from 10:30 am to Noon

at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road in Sequim

Pam will talk about her favorite herbs, aromatics, and specialty vegetables that grow so beautifully in our area. She will provide tips on growing, harvesting, cooking, and preserving these culinary gems. The presentation will be followed by a tour of the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, focusing on the Culinary Garden and Specialty Vegetables.

Pam Pace is a past Kootenai County, Idaho Master Gardener and a current 2023 Clallam County Master Gardener. During her lifelong gardening journey, she has grown vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers in five different planting zones. She is now thrilled to be gardening in the North Olympic Peninsula with all the challenges and joys it has to offer.

Pam spent her early adult years working in the culinary field and throughout the years has evolved into an adventurous home cook. She combines her love and knowledge of cooking and gardening for this “Digging Deeper Saturdays” presentation. Throughout the growing season, Pam is at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden in Sequim every Thursday morning where she oversees the Culinary Garden. When she is not at the Demonstration Garden, you will find her at her home garden, planting and harvesting or in her kitchen, cooking and preserving.

The Digging Deeper Saturday Series, sponsored by the Washington State University Clallam County Master Gardeners, is held on select Saturdays of most months. Scheduled presentations are subject to change. Visit the WSU Extension Clallam County website calendar for the latest information on upcoming presentations. For questions, call 360-565-2678.
