Farm and Garden Insect Pest Presentation

Richard Lewis is an entomologist with WSU Extension who specializes in Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

Topics include:

  • Background on the pests mentioned below
  • Life history, early recognition of pests and damage control strategies. Control would range from simple to bio-control to last resort.
  • Current research, issues, and trends.

Pests:

Carrot rust fly, Aphids, cabbage root maggot,slugs (not insect of course, but they were mentioned), Spotted Wing Drosophilacabbage loopers, coddling moth, Apple maggot, Currant sawfly, pear sawfly, tent caterpillars, potato flea beetle, potato wireworms

He will plan on the talk to be about an hour and a half and will be open to any questions during or after.
