As we look forward to summer’s sunshine, rising temperatures and less rainfall, we anticipate the need to both irrigate and fertilize our growing gardens.

Join us at the next Second Saturday Garden Walk as we share water conservation tips and fertilizing strategies:

June 10^th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Tour Fifth Street Community Garden with Clallam County Master Gardeners Jan Bartron, Bob Cain, Laurel Moulton, and Audreen Williams. They will look at some specific garden pests that are leaving holes and chewing plant parts, as well as a myriad of other things that are present in the garden. Walks are full of lively, on-the-spot sharing of gardening knowledge and tips. Come share your gardening experiences, bring your vegetable gardening questions and get timely science-based advice.

All Second Saturday Garden Walks are free and open to the public and occur rain or shine. The walks are ideal for people starting a vegetable garden for the first time and gardeners who are new to the Pacific Northwest but also are beneficial to the more experienced gardener.

The Fifth Street Community Garden is at 328 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles, just off Peabody Street and right across from City Hall. The garden includes over 50 individuals plots that are each 9 feet by 12 feet. The garden was developed on city property in 2011 with a vision to connect people to the earth and their community through growing food.

The event is part of the Second Saturday Garden Walks, an educational series sponsored by WSU Clallam County Master Gardeners that started in April and runs through September. June 10th walk will be the third walk of the 2023 season. For questions, call 360-565-2678.
