Cover Crops

Cover crops can be defined as: non-crash crop plants to bring about a benefit. The can add or capture nutrients, reduce pest pressure, conserve soil moisture, prevent erosion, reduce production costs, or enhance soil health to name a few. WSU Whatcom County Extension has an active research program evaluating new or novel uses of cover crops. We’ve included information from our research trials and from other sources. Check back often as we continue to update this site.
